Evangelism Class
The evangelism class materials linked below may be a little different than what you might encounter in your normal evangelism class. I start out with the theological foundation of evangelism and then move to the practical aspects of evangelism at the end of the class. Why? Because many sincerely and zealously try to evangelize the lost, but do so in unbiblical ways without realizing it. The result is failure to lead anyone to the Lord. In this series we look at why people need saved i.e., the doctrine of man and sin, how people are saved i.e., the doctrine of salvation, and the relationship between saving faith and works because the vast majority of people believe that salvation is by works. We will also take some time to do an apologetics overview, surveying the various approaches to apologetics and what approach to apologetics is modeled in the Scriptures. We will also do a survey of the book of Acts to observe three things: 1) The content of the gospel preached; 2) How people were told to appropriate the gospel when it is preached; and 3) How people responded to the gospel after it was preached. Our survey of Acts will help equip us to evaluate various evangelistic approaches. Finally, we consider various approaches and materials for doing evangelism.
Christians who are truly saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, believe the Word of God and strive to obey it. Thus, they will seek to bless Israel because the Lord repeatedly says to Israel, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.”
